About the Artist
I am a painter and sculptor born and raised in Mexico City. I've earned a BFA from University of Central Oklahoma in 2024 where I graduated with honors. From a young age, I've been attracted to art. My uncle, Jorge, an artist himself, introduced me to oil painting at the age of 6. As I grew older my passion for art sparked an interest in experimenting with different materials. I found a passion in sculpture and a fascination for textures and colors. I like to see the opportunities in different types of materials. I love to experiment with both reductive and adding processes. My fusion of painting and sculptures combine to create narratives that complement each other. My art is influenced by Mexican folkloric art and religious iconography, found inside the cathedrals and churches of Mexico City. I've been awarded the Barbara Weidell Sculpture Award two years running, and an honorable mention from the Teravarna Portrait Competition. My artwork has been showcased at the University of Central Oklahoma through various coursework and exhibits on the Melton Gallery. I look forward to expanding to other exhibitions and opportunities to inspire people through my art, as well as share my story and latin roots.
